Bio
Richard “Rick” K. Smith is retired as the Director of Sales – US for eFrac Well Services located in Houston, TX. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering and a M.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1981 from WVU. After graduation, he started as a field engineer at Halliburton Services in Elkview, WV. Working as a District Engineer and Technical Advisor, he performed primary engineering functions for district operations. Responsibilities included pumping services (stimulation and cementing) design engineering, district sales, technical training, and personnel supervisory duties. He was then transferred to Houston, Texas and placed on special assignment in Mobil Oil’s office working on high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) projects for their core producing fields. This included selecting well candidates and writing completion packages. In 1995, he was transferred to the country of Brunei as a Technical Advisor assigned to Shell’s Department of Reservoir Operations (DRO) and was responsible for selecting, developing, and writing production enhancement (stimulation and sand control) programs for Brunei Shell Petroleum Offshore Production Support Vessel Campaign in high pressure and high temperature reservoirs offshore. He was later promoted to Country Manager and was responsible for all Business Development, Operations and Financial Performance for locations covering the countries of Brunei, Philippines and East Malaysia.
After returning from overseas, he retired after 26 years with Halliburton and started up Weatherford Fracturing Technologies in the Northeast. He was responsible for all Business Development, Operations and Financial Performance for two locations covering the Northeast. After that, he went to work for Nabors Completion and Production Services where is served as their Regional Sales Manager. After NCPS was sold to C & J Energy Services in March of 2015, Rick was promoted to Director of Sales – NE.
He is married to Lori Miller Smith and has one daughter, Courtney, one son, Brandon and two step-sons, Jason and Steven. He enjoys trout fishing, camping and bike riding. He currently resides in South Charleston, WV.
