Bio
Dr. Pedro J. Mago joined WVU as the Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in July 2020. He arrived at WVU from Mississippi State University (MSU), where he was the Department Head and PACCAR Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He also has served as director of the Micro Cooling, Heating and Power (Micro-CHP) and Bio-Fuel Center; co-director of the Department of Energy Southeast Clean Energy Regional Application Center; and co-director of the Southeastern Center for Industrial Energy Intensity Reduction, all at MSU. Mago's research and teaching interests have been focused on energy systems and are currently concentrated on combined heat and power systems, building energy simulation, and waste heat recovery technologies.
Among his several teaching and research awards, Mago developed an active research group and secured more than $15 million worth of sponsored research. He has over 160 journal articles, book chapters and other publications and more than 6,000 citations. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and he is a Fellow of the ASME. Mago has served as Editor and Associate Editor of Journals and serves as a frequent reviewer and referee for several journals in his field.
