Bio

A seventh-generation West Virginian, John Jarrett embodies the true makeup of his down-home roots. A strong work ethic and desire to succeed are tempered by his faith and staunch position to provide each client with the highest level of honesty and integrity. Working since the age of sixteen, he is no stranger to hard work and the value of quality and dependability.

John received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. He has also completed graduate level studies at George Washington University in Engineering Administration and has been involved in numerous construction industry programs and seminars. John is a registered Professional Engineer in West Virginia and Virginia.

John has over 30 years of construction management experience. His career started in Huntington, WV working for a small architectural firm. In 1985, he left his hometown of Cross Lanes/Nitro and ventured to the big city of Washington, D.C. There he worked for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command spending time at various naval facilities like the Washington Navy Yard and Quantico Marine Base. In 1989, he returned to private industry working for a mid-sized general and mechanical contractor in Clinton, MD.

Soon thereafter, the hills of West Virginia beckoned John and his wife Susan to return home. In 1999, after nine years of working with a small Charleston contractor, he started his own firm, Jarrett Construction Services, Inc.

Since that time, his company has grown from a one man operation to employing as many as 30 people and countless subcontractors. The firm has won numerous safety and Excellence in Construction Awards. Jarrett works throughout the mid-Atlantic region of the country and has recently opened an office in Morgantown, WV. The company provides outstanding construction management, design/build and general contracting services.

John serves on the board of directors for the following organizations: Kanawha County Public Library, Poca Valley Bancshares of Walton, TECH Golden Bear Alumni Association, Montgomery and is Board Chairman for Mid-Atlantic Technology and Engineering (MATE), South Charleston. He is past president of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO – Mountain State Chapter), past chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors of WV, and past president of AMBUCS – Charleston Chapter. He is a member of the Contractors Association of WV, Construction Specifications Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers, West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, and the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church.

John and his family reside in Nitro, WV.
