Bio
Thompson is the Vice President of Manufacturing for Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation – A Boeing Company, a premier aerospace and defense business with world-class operations and capability of development and manufacturing of advanced unmanned system and aerospace vehicles. He is also the site leader for Aurora’s West Virginia facility. As the head of manufacturing for the Aurora enterprise, he leads a team of 200+ employees that specializes in the engineering and manufacturing of complex metal and composite aerospace structures utilizing lean techniques and development of advanced manufacturing technologies. Aurora Manufacturing has end-to-end capabilities for rapid-prototype, development, and production programs. Eric is responsible for the overall operation, financial performance, and growth of the Aurora Manufacturing sector.
Before being named General Manager in 2014, Thompson worked for Aurora as the Engineering Manager, Lead Tooling Engineer, and Tool Design Engineer, holding roles of increasing responsibility since 2006. Prior to joining Aurora, Eric worked for the Department of Defense (DoD) as a Research and Design Engineer, as well as instructed courses on the use of advanced engineering software for 3-D modeling.
Thompson is a proud alumnus of West Virginia University, holding both a BS and MS
in Mechanical Engineering. He is an active member of his community in Bridgeport,
WV, where he resides with his wife, Amanda, and their three sons.
